One of the things that bothered me about our house from the get-go was the random hallway that led to an exterior door. Next to this useless hallway was a very narrow laundry room. The room was so narrow that there was not space for a normal door, so it had a pocket door. This shot gun laundry room lay-out never made sense to me since there was abundant unused space on the other side of the wall. I remember mentioning to Brock as we were touring the house, “this wall needs to go and then this laundry/mud room would be awesome.” So what did Brock do once we bought the house? He knocked it down of course!

You can clearly tell by the before and after pictures, that it definitely feels more like a laundry room instead of a laundry closet. There’s an exterior door that leads in from the backyard, which is great if you’re wet from the pool or just dirty and need to clean up before walking through the rest of the house dirty.
