Decorator’s Icing



  • 1/2 cup butter (room temperature, softened)
  • 1/2 cup shortening (I use butter flavored Crisco)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 cups of confectioner’s sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk


1. Cream together the butter and shortening. Add in the vanilla.

2. Slowly add in the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, mixing well between additions.

3. Add in milk and mix well until light and fluffy. Add in food coloring if desired. Keep frosting covered with a towel or plastic wrap until ready to use.
